MINNEAPOLIS - March 14, 2011 - CenterPoint Energy has recently launched new account service enhancements, giving natural gas customers even more convenient options accessible 24 hours a day, seven days a week through CenterPointEnergy.com or its automated phone system.
“We are improving the way we do business with our customers by giving them continuous access to a variety of account tools without needing to speak with a customer service representative,” said Gregg Knight, division vice president, Customer Service. “We’ll continue to look for ways to better serve our customers’ needs and make doing business with CenterPoint Energy fast, easy and convenient.”
New options, which can be accessed around the clock at CenterPointEnergy.com/selfservice or by calling the company’s phone center at 800-245-2377, will allow customers to:
Make a One-Time Payment via a checking or savings account for no fee or use their debit or credit card for a small fee, paid to a third-party vendor.
Make a credit or debit card payment through the company’s paperless billing service, Online Billing. These transactions also include a small fee, paid to a third-party vendor.
Set up a payment extension or arrangement and report a payment made at one of CenterPoint Energy’s authorized payment centers.
Available after April 16th, if residential service is disconnected for non-payment, a customer will be able to determine the reconnection amount, make the payment and automatically set up a reconnection order online or by phone.

These account service enhancements are intended to provide increased customer satisfaction by saving time, ensuring immediate delivery of payments and allowing for faster service reconnections.
