High Efficiency Homes® Program

Program provides builders with sales and operational training, marketing support, and floor plan reviews for energy efficiency to encourage builders to construct homes to higher energy-efficient standards. It also educates home buyers on the benefits of buying a high-performance home.

Eligibility

This program is available to builders and developers, who construct ENERGY STAR® label as well as other high-performance home level ratings.

Participation Process

As part of the High Efficiency Homes® Program, a CenterPoint Energy Program Manager will help verify your eligibility, discuss documentation requirements, provide you with assistance.

Multi-Family Direct Install Program

Program provides existing affordable-housing properties access to energy efficiency updates at no cost to the developer, property owner or tenants.

Eligibility

Program is available to developers, property managers and property owners of existing multifamily affordable-housing, who install LED lights, kitchen and bathroom faucet aerators, low-flow showerheads, water heater pipe wrap.

Several factors, including the condition of the units, will determine eligibility.

Participation Process

CenterPoint Energy partners with a contractor to implement this program. As part of the program, our partner will help verify your eligibility, discuss documentation requirements, provide you with technical assistance and move your projects through to completion.

Multi-Family High Efficiency New Construction Program

Program promotes construction and certification of new ENERGY STAR® low-rise multi-family developments by providing incentives and assistance to Developers and HERS raters.

Eligibility

Program is available to Builders and Developers of multifamily projects who either work with qualified Raters throughout the design and construction process, can achieve above code performance on construction projects, and /or achieve above-code certification from a nationally-recognized program.

Recognized programs include:

  • Enterprise Green Communities Criteria
  • USGBC LEED
  • ENERGY STAR® Certified Homes
  • ENERGY STAR® Multifamily High Rise (New Construction)
  • National Green Building Standard
  • Passive Building Certification
  • Living Building Challenge Certification
  • Others as approved by CenterPoint Energy

Multi-Family Water and Space Heating Program

This program benefits multi-family developers who install non-electric water heating systems in multifamily projects.

Eligibility

Program is available to Builders and Developers of multifamily housing who install water heating equipment that meets or exceeds applicable federal efficiency standards or local building codes, as applicable.

  • The efficiency factor (EF) for storage tank water heaters with a 40-gallon and 50-gallon capacity must be at least 0.62, and 0.60 respectively.
