Recommissioning Program

A recommissioning study helps commercial customers identify low- and no-cost energy-saving measures that reduce operating costs and improve existing mechanical system efficiency. Whether it’s identified and implemented improvements for the entire facility or recommissioning of a particular system (like ventilation, building automation, or condensing boiler efficiency optimization), our Recommissioning program offers funding to our customers to offset a portion of third-party study costs that identify the energy-saving measures. Funding levels are dependent upon projected natural gas savings potential. CenterPoint Energy will also rebate qualifying implemented natural gas-saving measures.

Industrial Process and Commercial Efficiency Program

This program is designed to address a facility’s long-term comprehensive energy needs through offering a comprehensive, in-depth approach to energy savings by helping customers identify and overcome energy conservation barriers. Qualifying participants are CenterPoint Energy natural gas customers and mid-size industrial manufacturing process customers using a minimum of about 2,000 Dth annually or large commercial customers that have large-scale heating plant systems (like hospitals and college campuses). The program is delivered in three phases, over months or even years, along with financial support at each step.

  • Phase 1 - identifies opportunities
  • Phase 2 - develops an energy action plan
  • Phase 3 - implements energy-saving measures

Financial support covers study funding as well as rebates for both prescriptive measure and custom projects.

Customers looking to achieve certifications such as International Standards Organization 50001 or the Department of Energy's 50001 Ready can participate in the Industrial Process and Commercial Efficiency Program to help identify and prioritize energy-saving opportunities.

The program is offered collaboratively with the customer’s electric utility, subject to availability.

ENERGY STAR® Verification Assistance Program

This program requires that a building’s application be verified by a registered professional engineer or architect. CenterPoint Energy will reimburse first-time participant customers for the cost of the ENERGY STAR® application verification up to a maximum of $1,500 per building. Subsequent-year participant customers will qualify for half the cost of the ENERGY STAR application verification up to a maximum of $750 per building PLUS up to an additional $750 if documentation is furnished of an implemented natural gas savings measure resulting in CenterPoint Energy rebate. Customer must provide a copy of the verified application and documentation of the verification costs.
