Commercial Energy Efficiency Program​

Data Center Energy Efficiency ProgramCenterPoint Energy’s Data Center Energy Efficiency Program (DCEEP) assists data center owners and operators with reduction in energy costs through practical technical assistance and cash incentives, while recognizing the importance of sustaining reliability and maximizing uptime.

The DCEEP team will help you identify and implement energy saving projects that reduce your energy costs without sacrificing reliability. By investing in IT, cooling and power projects, you can optimize your data center’s energy use and reduce your electricity costs. These projects may also help increase IT capacity while minimizing facility expansion costs.

Benefits of Participation​

DCEEP is offered at no cost to the customer. It is designed to encourage data center energy efficiency improvement. Program highlights include:​

  • ​Technical assistance that helps you identify and implement energy-saving projects in your data center, and provides recommendations on the industry’s latest best practices
  • Customer engagement to ensure start-to-finish project execution and maximize energy savings potential
  • Financial incentives that reduce payback period of your investment by earning cash payments based on verified peak demand reduction and annual energy savings
  • Savings verification to prove energy savings after projects are completed

Customer Eligibility​

  • Data centers are considered any space used to house IT systems infrastructure, such as network operations centers, server rooms, enterprise data centers, and colocation facilities.
  • Site must be:
    • non-residential with  electric distribution service provided by CenterPoint Energy
    • non-transmission class (<69 kV) or non-profit/government transmission class customer
  • New construction and existing facilities are eligible

How to Participate​

Be sure to contact the DCEEP team early in the project development process, as a pre-application approval and inspection are required for all data center projects. The DCEEP team will help verify your project eligibility, discuss documentation requirements, and provide you with technical assistance that will help maximize energy saving opportunities, and move your projects through the incentive payment process.​
