CenterPoint Energy was represented by almost 30 volunteer judges at the 50th Annual Science Engineering Fair of Houston at the George R. Brown Convention Center. The event has grown into the largest regional science fair in the country.
Ben Carranza, manager of Rates, returned as a judging division coordinator. “Judging at the Science Engineering Fair is a very rewarding experience, as you get to interact with the young leaders of tomorrow,” said Carranza. “It is extremely impressive to witness the students’ depth of knowledge in their respective disciplines. They all do a fantastic job with their projects.” Volunteer judges not only evaluated student projects but also encouraged the students to pursue scientific-related careers. The event promotes engineering, mathematics, and science at the pre-college level via organized science and engineering fairs. Sponsors are the University of Houston-Downtown Engineering Department, Science & Technology Council of Houston, Greater Houston Partnership and the Houston Museum of Natural Science.
