The CenterPoint Energy Torchlight Parade was a main event of the 71st Annual Minneapolis Aquatennial Festival last month, with more than 75,000 spectators, about 90 parade entries and more than 120 CNP volunteers taking part in the night.
“This was our 10th consecutive year as the title sponsor of the CenterPoint Energy Torchlight Parade,” said Tal Centers, division vice president of Gas Operations in Minnesota. “Since 1870, we have been honored to deliver our brand promise of Always There to the customers and communities we serve in Minnesota. This popular tradition is the largest parade in Minnesota, and it allows us to exhibit our commitment to volunteerism and serving our communities, as well as highlight the services CenterPoint Energy and Home Service Plus provide to make our customers’ lives more comfortable, enjoyable and environmentally sound.”
Highlights of this year included the Beat Squad from Heartbeat Studios in Apple Valley, Minn., and celebrity grand marshal Lindsay Whalen, who plays for the Minnesota Lynx of the Women’s National Basketball Association. Special guests, including key customers, vendors and others, enjoyed a VIP event before the parade with food, giveaways and CNP mascots. The night’s perfect weather helped everyone enjoy being outside, which emphasized the parade theme: Celebrate the Great Outdoors.
