JA Finance Park teaches financial responsibility

Finance ParkChildren of CNP employees in grades eight to 12 recently attended the Junior Achievement (JA) Finance Park program to learn about budgeting and personal finance. The innovative, educational environment provided students with an opportunity to develop money-management skills, obtain personal finance knowledge and prepare for the financial decisions and challenges they will face as adults.

The Finance Park houses a made-up community, which allows students to experience first-hand the challenges of making real life decisions about their finances, while being randomly assigned families, fictional jobs, income scenarios and basic expenses. Students purchased housing, transportation, insurance, education and other items, while making investment decisions and balancing their personal budgets.
