Arkansas GIVE grant benefits kids

ARK GIVECenterPoint Energy‟s GIVE grants make a difference for the kids that Wesley Parks and Robbie Robinson, both O&M technicians in Ft. Smith, coach at the Boys and Girls Club. In the past, their joint GIVE grant money was used to purchase new jerseys and pants for the team. Parks has been coaching first and second grade “Rinky Dink” football for three years. At that level, the goal is for the children to have fun and become interested in football, regardless of talent.

“The kids come first, winning is second,” said Parks. “It's so great when kids return to say hello after they 'graduate' or when they recognize me in the neighborhood.” Robinson, above right with Jason Moreland, director, Evans Boys and Girls Clubs, has been coaching for six years. “It's my way of giving back to my city and its people,” Robinson said. “I also get great joy from the kids because you never know what they are going to say or do!”
