Houston-area blood donors honored for service

In 2008, CenterPoint Energy employees, family members and friends donated 4,161 units of blood. To recognize the tireless efforts of region blood drive coordinators and their assistants, CenterPoint Energy and The Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center teamed up to honor the group at an appreciation luncheon. David McClanahan, president and chief executive officer, presented the following awards.

Facilities with the highest percentage of donations

Highest percentage of donations with fewer than 100 employees:
First place – Galveston Service Center
Second place – Alvin Warehouse
Third place – Richmond Warehouse
Fourth place – Katy Service Center

Highest percentage of donations with 101 to 200 employees:
First place – Hiram Clarke Service Center
Second place – Harrisburg Underground Service Center
Third place – Baytown Service Center

Highest percentage of donations with more than 200 employees:
First place – ECDC
Second place – Greenspoint Service Center

The Galveston Service Center was treated to a special barbeque luncheon that was cooked by the Energy in Motion Cook-off team and served by CNP officers in recognition of the highest percentage of donations.
