Thousands attend Minnesota Safety Open Houses

Fire Prevention WeekCenterPoint Energy employees were busy in Minnesota during Fire Prevention Week (Oct. 4 -10). More than 70 volunteers answered questions about pipeline detection, carbon monoxide detectors, what to do if you smell gas, and other natural gas safety tips, during 39 Safety Open Houses. Nearly 28,000 customers and their families attended the events, where hoop toys, like those held by Luke Litteken, Minnesota south district director, and kids’ hard hats were handed out. With a colder-than-usual fall, attendance was down slightly over last year’s events. Litteken, who took part in one of the open houses, said, “These events allow us to share important natural gas safety messages face to face with our customers, and continue building on relationships with important community leaders like the fire department.”
