On Nov. 19, 2008, CenterPoint Energy partnered with the University of Houston to host the 2008 Power Tools for Nonprofits Conference. The award-winning event drew 620 professionals and volunteers from social service agencies, community and faith-based groups, business and professional associations, and educational institutions. The conference provided 32 sessions to help nonprofit professionals and volunteers enhance business strategy, leverage resources and gain knowledge as well as best-practices to run effective organizations.
“Through Power Tools we provide high-quality education at a reasonable price to assist nonprofit organizations in our community,” said Sharon Owens, vice president of Corporate Community Relations. The conference, now in its sixteenth year, has educated more than 7,000 professionals representing 3,000 nonprofit organizations.
