For 17 years, the CenterPoint Energy Community Relations team in Minnesota has partnered with Habitat for Humanity to build energy-efficient, affordable homes in the Twin Cities metro area. More than 70 employee and retiree volunteers recently spent a week building a single- family home in Chaska, Minn. Despite wet weather conditions early in the week, volunteers were able to plant trees, install all the doors and windows and begin shingling the roof.
“CNP volunteers accomplished an enormous amount of work in a short period of time and the job was a success,” said Suzanne Pierazek, community relations manager.
The 2009 Habitat for Humanity core team is led by co-chairs Tom Dolan, key account manager, and Mark Spanton, senior sales consultant. The team also includes Teri LeFaive, marketing and sales secretary, Nate West, service technician III, Ann Lovcik, trade ally foodservice representative, Melissa Lisher and retiree Rick Pilon.
