CenterPoint Energy employees in Houston were recognized in the Texas Children’s Hospital’s (TCH) spring 2009 newsletter, Shine, for supporting the 11th Annual Bad Pants Open.
Gary Whitlock, executive vice president and chief financial officer (far left), and Ray Ehmer, senior director of planning (far right), were among the 272 golf participants. “Our CenterPoint Energy volunteers were terrific and made a huge difference to the success of the tournament, in which the big winner is the Newborn Center of Texas Children’s Hospital. This is a good example of our employees always being there to help our community,” said Whitlock.
Sheila Shackelford, executive assistant, led the CNP volunteer efforts and reported the tournament raised $225,000 for TCH’s Newborn Center developmental care and nursing education programs. Since the Bad Pants Open’s inception, over $1 million has been raised for the latest diagnostic, treatment techniques and developmental care services, and for education and training programs at the Newborn Center.
The next tournament will be held at Cypresswood Golf Club on Tuesday, Oct. 13, and more information is available at www.badpantsopen.com.
