CNP partnered with Houston-area organizations at four February events to celebrate the start of the “Year of the Tiger” with a roar.
CNP sponsored a corporate booth to distribute safety brochures and promotional items at the Chinese Community Center Lunar New Year Festival where 11,000 people enjoyed Asian foods, lion dances, multi-cultural performances, games and a Dragon Dance, which symbolizes the bringing of good luck and success for all mankind.
At the Chinese Professional Club’s celebration, CNP provided a $2,500 scholarship to a high-school senior, and Marylynn Kallina Matthews, Corporate Community Relations program manager, received an Outstanding Community Service Award. About 400 community leaders attended the group’s 57th Annual Scholarship Ball.
CNP and the Asian Pacific American Heritage Association volunteers taught guests at Houston’s Children Museum how to create various Asian arts and crafts, including kimonos, henna, leis and origami, pictured above. A Dragon Dance and multi-cultural performances by various Asian groups were presented throughout the day.
The Houston Asian Junior Chamber of Commerce also recognized CNP with an Underwriter Award for its support when the organization celebrated 25 years of service at its 2010 Inaugural Gala. The organization was ranked first in the nation for community impact.
