Clarence Smith III, a Gas Operations service technician in Beaumont, Texas, received an award from the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States for completing more than 100 volunteer hours this year. Smith was a Habitat for Humanity volunteer, helping repair homes damaged by Hurricanes Rita and Ike. He has also barbequed for various charity events and fundraisers for individuals throughout the year.
“The veterans’ organizations of Southeast Texas have always gone above and beyond helping with veteran affairs, community events, benefits and fundraisers,” said Smith, who has been with CNP for 10 years. “The ability and opportunity to give back to our veterans and my community was fulfilling enough. The award was an added bonus.”
