CNP’s Safety Wellness Action Team (SWAT) members in Minnesota volunteered to pack food for the Feed My Starving Children (FMSC) organization, which sends hand-packed meals designed to starving children in more than 30 countries each year. Daryl Pearson, safety specialist, said, “Their mission really helps you see how fortunate we are in this country and that there are people all over the world who go to bed hungry every night.” FMSC is funded by the volunteers who do the work as well as individual, church and corporate donations.
The CNP team also gave individual donations to support efforts to provide daily food to feed the most severely malnourished children around the world. Each meal costs about 17 cents to produce, and the SWAT members packaged over 10,000 meals. “We packed food alongside 30 high-energy 6th graders which made for lots of smiles, laughing and a great team-building day for us,” noted Kris Tande, supervisor in Damage Prevention.
