CNP supports minority scholarships at winter event

As one of the major sponsors of the Annual United Negro College Fund (UNCF) Black Tie Gala, CNP helped the organization fund scholarships for students in need and celebrate the company’s 2009 fundraising efforts. UNCF is the nation’s largest, oldest and most successful minority higher education assistance organization. CNP’s 33 teams raised more than $35,000 to support the organization’s efforts. The top five team captains attend this event: Debra Potts, specialist engineering senior; Shachella James, IT manager; Elizabeth Hebert, administrative associate; Greta Walters-Fruge, claims representative senior; and La Toya Bester, customer advocate and compliance liaison. Their teams raised a combined total of more than $16,000. Walters-Fruge said her personal highlight of the event was an inspirational testimony from a UNCF scholarship recipient who is now pursuing a medical degree at the University of Texas because of his successful experience with UNCF.
