Canstruction invades Tower lobby

CanstructionFor the fifth consecutive year, CenterPoint Energy Tower hosted Canstruction Houston, a design and build competition benefiting the Houston Food Bank. Local architects, engineers, construction professionals and students used soup, vegetables, tomato sauce and other canned goods to show off their skills. Among the 20 displays were a bowling alley, an iPhone, a steaming cup of coffee and classic video games, including Tetris, Frogger and Ms. Pac Man. The seven-foot gumball machine shown on the cover was named Best Design by Canstruction judges, and a portrait of the late Michael Jackson, shown right, won the Public Favorite award, voted on by employees and building visitors.
