Mississippi employees assist hundreds at triathlon

TriathalonEarlier this month, CNP employees volunteered their Saturday morning to help more than 300 triathletes have a more enjoyable experience at the 25th Annual HeatWave Classic Triathlon hosted by the Department of Parks and Recreation in Ridgeland, Miss. Mary Benson, secretary; Rene Bodin, finance analyst; and Traci Williams, operations support (pictured); helped out at the water and transition timing stations, and also assisted participants with their race numbers.

Benson said the most rewarding part of participating in events like the HeatWave Classic is “to have them thank you for volunteering and tell you how much they appreciate what you‟re doing. It‟s really worth it.” The race consisted of a half-mile swim in the Ross Barnett Reservoir, a 24.5-mile bike ride along the scenic and historic Natchez Trace Parkway, and a 10K run along Ridgeland's heavily shaded multi-use trail. Tina Lakey, district director, Benson and Bodin also assisted with athlete registration the previous night.
