Louisiana team cooks gumbo to benefit sick child

GumboCenterPoint Energy employees in the Opelousas and Lake Charles areas of Louisiana combined forces to cook award-winning gumbo and raise funds to help with the medical expenses of 19-month old cancer patient, James Abbott Vidrine. The team from Opelousas finished second in the gumbo cook-off. Employees in the Lake Charles District office joined their colleagues by donating to the fund. “Special thanks to all our employees and their families for the donations and taking time to make the benefit a success for James and his family,” said Julie Franchebois, Operations Support representative in Opelousas.

John Eades, was head cook, and employees helping with the fundraising event were: Larry West, Paul Louviere, Roark Pastorick, Gene Leonards, Franchebois, Brent Andrepont, Tony Soileau, Suzette Johnson, Ronnie Aymond, Rick Tarver and Ronnie Menard.
