Fast facts about the arts in New Braunfels:
- Built in 1878, Gruene Hall is the oldest continually running dance hall in Texas. Numerous great singers and songwriters have played here, including George Strait & Ace in the Hole, Jerry Jeff Walker, Lyle Lovett, Joe Ely, Robert Earl Keene, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, and Hal Ketchum.
- The Brauntex Theater first opened in January 1942. The Brauntex Performing Arts Theatre Association bought the Brauntex Theater building in 1999 and converted it into a performing arts theater. The inaugural performance of the newly renovated theater took place on April 29, 2000, when the San Antonio Symphony played in front of a sold-out crowd.
