Q: What is My Account Online?

A:  My Account Online is your free, online portal to information about your CenterPoint Energy natural gas account. Log in or register to receive access to My Energy Analyzer, as well as billing and payment history, access to online account services and more.

Q: Do I have to be registered for My Account Online (MAO) to use the My Energy Analyzer tool?

A: Yes. Not registered for My Account Online? It's free, quick and easy. Register now.

Q: I'm already a My Account Online customer, but I can't remember my user ID or password.
A:  Follow these links to access your user ID or password.

 Completing your home energy profile

Q: What if I do not know the answer to many of the home energy profile questions?

A: The My Energy Analyzer tool provides default values for many of the categories.Try to personalize your information as much as possible.

Q: I live in a duplex with separate units. What home type should I choose to most accurately refer to my current location?

A: Use the description that most accurately describes your home.

Q: Does it make a difference if my apartment or townhome is a lower, top or end floor unit?

A: Yes. The tool allows you to select lower or top/end unit.

Q: I do not know what type of insulation I have in my home. What should I do?

A: If you have a newer home, try contacting your builder to learn what type of insulation was used in your home.If you have an older home, try asking your handyman for advice. While a specific answer can fine turn your report, the tool also gives you the option to select "I don't know" if you are uncertain of the type of insulation you have in your home.

Q:  The tool does not give an option that correctly pairs my number of bedrooms with the square footage in my home.What should I do?

A: Select the answer that most closely describes your square footage.

Q: How big is a standard window?

A: On average, the most common double hung size window is around 30" X 60".

Q: What if I have multiple types of windows in my current house? For example, a big bay window in the living room, smaller double-pane windows in the bedrooms or a sliding patio door, etc?

A: Use the most accurate description for the majority of the windows in your home.

Q: I use space heaters for certain rooms in my home.Can I include it on my profile?

A: There is currently not an option for space heaters.

Q: How can I tell how old my appliances are?

A: Try to find the model/unit number on your appliance and attempt an online search to find the age of the appliance. Also, by referring to records (such as a home inspection) or the appliance purchase date, you may be able to determine the age/make/condition of the appliance in question.

Q: How do I know if my appliances are high efficiency?

A: One way to tell is to look on the appliance for the Energy Star sticker. Another way is to search for the make/model of your appliance and refer to appropriate documentation online.

Q: What is considered a low water heater temperature and what is considered a high one?

A: A warm setting is in the 90 to 110 degree range. The hot setting will average 140 to 150 degrees.

Q: I wasn't asked about my gas fireplace. Will that impact the data?

A: At this time, gas fireplaces are not factored into your report.

Q:  Will this website take into account the fact that I have a saver-switch on my air conditioner?
A:  No. The report is based on the home's temperature setting.

Q: Does My Energy Analyzer save my answers?

A: Yes. Your home energy profile is saved. Feel free to update your profile if you purchase new appliances or electronics, or make energy efficiency improvements to your home.

Q: How accurate is the My Energy Analyzer information?

A: Please try to answer your home energy profile as thoroughly as possible to ensure the best results for your comprehensive home energy report. Your natural gas usage information is taken from your CenterPoint Energy natural gas account. Your electricity usage is estimated based on your region of the county. Weather data is pulled from the weather station closest to your service address.
