Interstate Pipelines

CenterPoint Energy owns and operates two interstate natural gas pipelines strategically located at the center of the nation's gas transportation infrastructure. Taken together, CenterPoint Energy Gas Transmission Company and CenterPoint Energy Mississippi River Transmission Corporation form one of the largest natural gas pipelines in the mid-continent United States, connecting to over 20 other pipeline systems.

CenterPoint Energy has completed or is nearing completion of two new, substantial pipeline projects:

  • Carthage to Perryville
Carthage to Perryville, which went into service in May 2007, connects new domestic natural gas supplies in the East Texas area to markets in the Midwest and Northeast. The pipeline has approximately 1.2 billion cubic feet (Bcf) per day of capacity with a potential to expand to 1.5 Bcf in 2008.
  • Southeast Supply Header
The Southeast Supply Header is a joint project with Spectra Energy Corp. The new pipeline will have approximately 1.0 Bcf per day of pipeline capacity and will extend from CenterPoint Energy's Perryville Hub in northeast Louisiana to Spectra's partially owned affiliate pipeline, Gulfstream Natural Gas System in Mobile County, Alabama.
