Current Position: executive vice president and president, Electric Division. In this role, his organization will include Electric Operations, Regulatory and Government Affairs, Information Technology and Business Support Services.
Previous positions: Tracy has been with the company since 1986, when he was hired as a regulatory attorney for CenterPoint Energy’s gas operations in Minnesota. He served for 12 years as director of Regulatory Services and seven years as director of Government and Public Relations in Minnesota. In 2007, he was named division vice president, Minnesota Gas Operations. In 2008, he was named division senior vice president, Support Operations, responsible for providing shared services to regulated gas and electric operations. In 2010, he was also given responsibility for Business Transformation and Regulated Operations Technology. In 2011 he was promoted to division president for Gas Operations, with responsibilities including: Customer Service, Marketing and Sales, and Rates and Regulatory. He was named senior vice president and division president, Electric Operations in 2012, and he was promoted to his current position as executive vice president and president, Electric Division, in February 2014. Tracy’s utility experience began in 1976 as a utility laborer during his college summers in Lamoni, Iowa.
Affiliations: Tracy is the president of the Graceland University Yellowjacket Club and current member of the Board of Directors of the Greater Houston Chapter of the American Red Cross. He is a past member of the Board of Directors of the Southern Gas Association. He is also a past member of the Board of Directors of the Minnesota Business Partnership; the Greater Metropolitan Housing Corporation; the Greater Minneapolis Crisis Nursery; and the Minnesota Chamber of Commerce. Tracy is a past chair of the AGA Rates and Strategic Issues Committee, where he was awarded AGA’s Outstanding Service Award.
Education: Tracy earned a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from Graceland College in 1980, and a Juris Doctorate from Drake University Law School in 1983. He has also completed advanced business and utility courses at the University of Michigan (1997), the University of Idaho (2006) and the Kellogg School of Business at Northwestern University (2007).
Personal: He is married to Chris Helene Bridge, an author and artist, and they have two sons, Tyler and Andrew.
