Many Galveston, Texas, facilities sustained heavy damage due to Hurricane Ike, including a local little league baseball field. With baseball season fast approaching, the lights at Island Little League’s field needed major repair. When CenterPoint Energy employees Keith Gray, service area director, and Bruce Baxter, operations supervisor, at the Galveston Service Center heard of the situation, they arranged for the company to fix the lighting system.
"This was a costly project, and we didn’t know where the funds or the manpower would come from," Ronnie Puccetti, league president, wrote in a letter to the Galveston Daily News. "The crew that came out was very professional and great to work with. I can say our caps go off to CenterPoint Energy. Without their help, we would be in the dark."
